Can you say…. POKEMON GO? I’ve said it way too much this week, and I haven’t even downloaded or played the darn thing (neither have my kids, at ages 5 and 4… although if I know my girls, they’d get a big bang out of it and I would never be able to draw them away). Yeah, let’s not play and say we did.
But, in the name of making us parents cool and hip and absolutely aware of what the heck is ‘out there’ these days that might compromise the values and/or safety of our kids, I offer this: THE APPS WE NEED TO BE AWARE OF.
As seen on CBS Los Angeles. Take peeksie and a tally for how many of these you knew about:
My fave part of this segment was (obviously) the Circle with Disney and Circle Go part — hey, I did use the word “magical” on air and all. (I meant it!) Catch more details about Pokemon Go, Snapchat, YikYak, Kik, YouNow over on CBSLA’s ‘Fab Mom’ web piece for this segment.
AND! Click over to social media expert Josh Ochs’ SafeSmartSocial.com for the ‘Parents’ App Guide,’ which ranks and codes the most popular to obscure apps available to kids and teens according to safety and usability.
BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE! For kicks and giggles, check out my digital mommy friend Deva’s latest genius+hysterical+clever video from her channel My Life Suckers… it’s PokeMOM, people! And she’s finding all the things she lost after having kids… follow her, like her, laugh with and love her (I do).
Since February 17, 2016, you can now catch “The FAB Mom on 2” EVERY WEDNESDAY night and Friday mornings at 6:30am on CBS Los Angeles’ Channel 2! Like CBSLA on Facebook, Like The FAB Mom’s *NEW* Facebook Page and comment, ask, request and shout what YOU want us to talk about. And share, share, share what you like on Twitter & Facebook using #CBSLA … just like your mama taught ya.
