My latest ‘FAB Mom on 2’ segment on CBS Los Angeles? How to talk to other parents about guns. Yes, anchor Pat Harvey and I veered outside our usual fun-and-fabulous-tips-for-all format. Thanks to recent tragic stories in the news (involving gun violence) and the month of June being National Safety Month, we tackled a topic that gets a lot folks’ blood boiling these days…
Why? Because parents need to parent… and that includes talking about things that scare us in the name of safety.
This wasn’t a politically-charged chat, but rather a call-to-action should you be someone that fears your child might be spending a lot time at a friend’s house whose parents happen to own guns: Gun ownership is currently a right and a choice and we need not fear opening up the topic with other parents — should there be concern — in the name of education and communication.
