A fabulous FYI: I cared for my skin from the inside out with Aveeno® Active Naturals as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #Aveeno. All confessions are personally mine, all opinions are authentically my own.
I think it’s about time we all got naked together. I mean, we’ve known each other for a few years now, have had quite a courtship, told each other things we’ve never shared before… let’s bare it all. Right. Now. I’ll go first. Then you. Then we can go from there…
Ha! Get your minds outta the gutter my fabulous pretties. (I’m not that drunk.) But what I’m about to do is pretty ballsy… even for me. Let’s call this a grand exposure via an Aveeno® holistic skin health moment. Up until now, the few people that have actually *seen* me without ANY MAKEUP WHATSOEVER are 1) my husband, 2) my mom, dad & sister (and her family), 3) a handful of moms & dads that catch a blur of me whizzing by them with huge sunglasses on to drop my daughter off at preschool 3 mornings a week. That’s it. For all the rest of you, I’ve always had something on my face… tinted moisturizer, lip gloss, some kind of tricky beauty coverup that shields the unseen territory of my natural state.
Not anymore. I am hereby baring it all in the video below. It’s time to get back to nature, folks. And to make matters much more dramatic, I’m actually confessing three – yes, THREE! – never-before-heard truths about my life as a wife, mom and woman. All inspired by Aveeno® Positively Radiant® Makeup Removing Wipes. Watch if you dare:
Here’s the thing… we ALL need to get naked every once in a while. Saying things out-loud make us feel better (even if it’s to our own face in the mirror as we take our makeup off every night). As moms, we need to remember to make ourselves feel better before we start feeling stressed, frustrated, angry and all-of-the-above. (You follow?) Otherwise, we get extra-antsy and then yell at our kids even louder than we did the day before. And then, we’re all back at my #2 point in the video and getting all weepy in our bathroom as we wonder how much damage we did to our 4 year old’s psyche earlier that day when she refused to stop challenging you in regards to not being allowed to wear sandals in the cold rain (so you yelled… a lot).
I’ll tell ya (here’s another confession): I was PETRIFIED to take my makeup off on camera like this. (I think we all are, no matter how self-assured we are.) The teenager in me still wanted to feel like I was “pretty” even without my eyemakeup. It’s ok, let’s say it together: We all like pretty. There’s nothing wrong with it. The thing I’m learning (as a mom) is that pretty truly does come from the inside-out. Meaning, we need to feel good, healthy, natural if we want all those things to radiate out of our skin. As we know deep down, it’s nearly impossible to feel good, healthy and natural if we’re hanging on to emotional baggage. Taking off our makeup (metaphorically speaking) might be the most healthy thing to do in more ways that we realize every day.
Self care doesn’t necessarily need to involve big to-do’s and lengthy and elaborate practices and procedures. Taking care of ourselves involves finding quick ways to clean up and come clean so that our outsides and insides can be refreshed (and rockin’) for ourselves, our spouses and our kids on a daily basis. Whatever’s sticking to you, try saying it out loud. Say what’s bothering you to your own face in your mirror every night if you need to. Release it. (Then quickly followup with what’s right, to end on a positive note.) Because once everything’s out of your mouth and stripped off your face, it’s fabulous.
WHAT DO WANNA CONFESS? FEEL FREE & SAFE TO BARE IT ALL…
