Fall fashion, you are here! And I’m ready for new shoes. But I won’t sugar-coat it: I hate flats. HATE flats. So much that I’ve been known to wear high heels to toddlers’ birthday parties. (You think I’m kidding? I wish.) I am that idiot you see pushing a double-stroller in platforms. Can’t help it. I’m too addicted at this point. Lately though, I’ve found some fabulous flats that I can’t seem to refuse.

Friends, meet TIEKS (if you haven’t already). My friend (and fairy blog-mommy) Andrea Fellman of Savvy Sassy Moms first introduced them to me earlier this year and since then I’ve (gasp!) actually had to fess up that I’m in love with these shoes created by a brother/sister team (even though they are – gulp – flats). At first I was like: Oh, great, flats…. uh-huh… but then I actually tried them. TIEKS are made of the finest Italian leathers (manufactured by Gavrieli) and are made to fold and fit into a purse (they DO, I’ve done it… the compact pouch that comes with every pair actually compresses the shoes to take up even less space in your purse). They exude almost-unbelievable quality (it takes 3 days and over 150 steps to make each pair, individually) yet they feel like simple ballet-slippers with the most amazing turquoise split-sole support… with the back of the shoes cushioned (rather than elasticized) to stay comfortable for longer. And just to drive my point home, Oprah happens to be in love with them. Bam! The best part of all? I actually feel FUN and SEXY in them (weird, I know, with no platform and all). If you get the gold or nude color (like I do), your legs will look longer… a former-beauty-queen tip from me to you (and just be sure that, if you happen to be a half-size – like me – get the next size up for ultimate fit).
Proof: They fold back up real nice folks.
And did I mention? One of the owners and chief designer is a new mom herself (you know how fabulous I think that is).
I won’t fib: They’re not the least-expensive shoes on the market. But if you only want ONE pair of flats that you will go to and love and want to wear again and again (on account of them feeling and looking so fab), then TIEKS are your girls. These are darling shoes and look very well made. I cannot find any info on where they are made other than the leather is processed in Italy.

Those are the best shoes to bring when travelling light. I really love them. Aside from being useful and convenient, they are also sold in many adorable colors and designs.
I’ve been seeing Tieks’ ads on Facebook (as someone who works in social media, I have to say they’re doing a fab job!) and it was totally love at first sight for me. Great to hear they’re just as great in person! 🙂
