Ah, the days of having a newborn. Yes, I’m done at the moment, but still… the precious new beginning of life that somehow goes hand-in-hand with a bunch of “accessories” equal to furniture with ducks or monkeys or giraffes or bright-blue-and-yellow cartoon characters printed all over them.
Just what you want around your house, right? Large items placed in every room that shout “I’m here for the baby” amongst your (my) wannabe-sophisticated neutral decor.
But then again, maybe I’m a baby snob. (Ok, I am.) When my girls were born, I made a vow to have as few duck/monkey/giraffe/bright-blue-and-yellow-cartoon-character thingys displayed around my house as possible.
I’m so obsessed about this in fact that I’ve waxed on about how “important” it is for your sanity (as a ‘fab mom’) to get baby gear that goes with the colors/decor of your home…
Now that Baby Bjorn‘s got their brand new Bouncer Balance Soft (a super-soft self-soothing bouncer to put babies in)… I’m thinking that maybe I’ll just have another baby (kidding).
With four different seating options (high, medium, low and totally flat for transportation purposes) it IS pretty great. Here’s why I think so:
It comes in a NEUTRAL color and modern design (what? no animals?): If my theory is correct, you wouldn’t even notice this item in the middle of a family room… which is a good thing in my book.
It’s soft and self-soothing: Fabric is 100% cotton. No batteries to bother with, no annoying noise (I still have the dirge-like song from my baby’s battery-operated swing stuck in my head months later).
Proper head and back support: It’s an ergonomic design equipped to work for babes newborn up to 29 lbs (technically, my 18-lb LilMiss could use this if only she was less obsessed with rolling around and walking these days).

And, rumor has it (from one of Bjorn’s own marketing executives) that some Right Start stores have adult-sized versions for us grownups to test out for kicks. How fab is that? (Almost as fab as the incredible Alexandra of the famed Beverly Hills Mom who took the picture of me above!)
