Out of pure boredom (and a VERY slow work schedule lately), I experimented on myself. I went all 1950’s housewife and decided to pursue satisfaction through doing simple things. This week, “bored” was to become the new “fab.” How very desperate housewifey of me, no? No more stinky yucky dishes in the sink. No more unshaven legs. No more “but I don’t wanna make dinner today” attitude. I’m young, I’m capable, I’m lucky to have a house to clean. If I’m not working (outside of the home), then my butt had better not be lazy. Staying fabulous doesn’t always mean going here and going there (although it’s much more fun).
I’m one of those weirdos that gets confused and crabby if my house is a total disaster. Hubby will say I’m lying (based on my clothes that are usually thrown and strewn all over our bedroom), but who believes him anyways? A body already in motion is more likely to stay in motion. Translation: Get your lazy a$$ up and at ’em, Jill, and maybe that energy will generate positivity to bring more positive things? And I started by shaving my legs.
The shaving then spread into keeping my sink clean, my counter pristine, my dishwasher washing and those annoying piles of clothes OFF that bench in front of my bed (Hubby particularly appreciates that one). I tried a new fall dinner recipe that I randomly found online (apple cinnamon pork chops on the stove…. SO EASY… click here for recipe).
Yes, I had waaay too much time on my hands… and that’s one thing that I’ve never been a fan of. But if the universe gives you time, you must say thank you and have no other choice but to use that time wisely. (Of course, you’ve gotta throw in a few UNwisely-used moments to add spice.)
To my shock and horror, I actually now feel better. My spirits have lifted. I feel mentally engaged. I am “in the moment” in life. I may have even lost a few pounds (pushing that damn Swiffer Wet Jet around my kitchen floor gave me quite a workout). I’m organized and ready to go to work. Now if only someone would call me with a job. In time… 🙂
WHAT DO YOU TO PASS THE TIME?
