Before explaining what went on behind these pictures, I’m gonna send a shout to Classic Kids Photography. (Yes, I’m offering a fab deal to YOU and your family… at the end of this post! Scroll down.)
Now back to my tale not told through these pictures….
It all began so fabulously: LadyP was a little ham. Smiling, flirting, cooing, oohing and ahhing… rolling around naked, keeping her bow in her hair, clapping her hands. Krista (our photographer) kept her giggling (by flinging her enviously long hair all over the place! brilliant!) and snap-snap-snapped away. I was a proud Mommy. LadyP was in a great mood and showing off. That’s my girl!
She vogued for her solo picture:
She smiled sweetly for our family picture:
She cuddled and ‘baby-faced’ for Daddy’s picture:
But then… we got to Mommy’s picture. Not so fabulous (despite what it appears).
We squirmed. We whined. We wiggled. We squealed and pushed Mommy away with both hands and feet. I think we tore the bow out of our hair and threw it a couple of times. I struggled to keep her in my arms. “Smile, dammit” I thought. “After all I do for you, you little stinker….” (I say that in the most loving way, of course.) I think Hubby even got a big head about it (“She behaved for me…”) Part of me wanted to laugh at the sheer ridiculousness. Part of me wanted to cry for fear that I was getting cheated from a decent picture of the two of us. Part of me was embarrassed that photographer Krista would think that my own baby girl didn’t even like me! And then I was relieved (I’m guessing Classic Kids deals with this kind of thing all the time). I have no idea how they got this shot (and several other great shots!) despite LadyP’s meltdown out of nowhere. Even though LadyP looks content, I will always know the truth. Her expression is smirking on the outside and thinking “I’m only doing this because I know you want me to, Mommy” on the inside. When I look at our photo, I will always lovingly remember the behind-the-scenes reality. I also can’t wait to tell her and laugh about it when she’s older. Drama and all… it was some of the most fun I’ve ever had.
As cheesy as this may sound, Classic Kids’ black & white handmade prints are pieces of art for your home… forever. I say this because I mean it… doing our first family pictures with them was FABULOUS. The were fast, professional and fun. In fact, we love them so much that TheFabMom is happily sending you their way too! Head to either one of my nearby Classic Kids studios (either Santa Monica, CA or Pasadena, CA) mention TheFabMom or my name (Jill Simonian, in case you forgot) and get $100 off the sitting fee OR a 5×7 print credit. ENJOY! (Just remember to do your Mommy-and-me photos FIRST! Ha!)
