Growing up, my mom would sometimes tell my sister and I to not wear certain brand new tops/dresses/outfits and to “save” them for a special occasion or party (probably because we were kids and she knew we’d ruin said items with BBQ sauce or something). Well, it’s “later” and I’m so over “saving” new clothes for special occasions. (Sorry Mom.) I’m now starting to wear my GOOD clothes around the house to clean, run errands, feed the baby, cook dinner… regardless if I have the time to put on makeup or do my hair. If it’s one of those days when you look like $hit from the neck up, at least look fabulous from the neck down. I challenge you to join me and try it.
Here’s my crazy logic:
#1: The clothes are there in my closet – already purchased – and one should never waste nice things. It takes the same amount of time to put on a pretty top instead of a T-shirt.
#2: If I don’t wear them, they will feel lonely and I’ll feel more and more frumpy as time passes… leading to unproductive days and a dreaded impending feeling of “What the hell happened to me? I sure went downhill.”
#3: Hubby likes it. Which sometimes indirectly leads to getting certain things you may want from him in future (including him loading/unloading the dishwasher).
#4: Because it gives me a giggle and reinvigorates my spirit so I can do what I need to do. If Mom doesn’t have energy, nothing gets done. And, life’s too short.
