Practical or UN-fab? So, I’m finally getting around to writing thank-you notes for LadyP’s baptism. Aside from that day being one of the most surprisingly-emotional experiences of my new-mom life, she received so many BEAUTIFUL pieces of jewelry from some of our most dear family members. Count ’em ’round my neck in the photo: 1, 2, 3, 4 gorgeous crosses that, I gotta say, look fabulous on me. True, my little lady will inevitably enjoy these when she’s OLD ENOUGH TO WEAR THEM. What 5-month old has the gravitas to pull off fine jewelry, right???
My question: Until LadyP grows up a bit, what’s this Mommy to do? Let these necklaces go to waste in her ballerina music box? Is it OK for me (as her Mom) to respectfully borrow these babies and sporadically show them off on her behalf (giving them back to her, of course, when she’s age-appropriate)? Or, should I shelve my immature giddiness for all-things-pretty and tuck these away for her to discover several years from now? (Have I mentioned that I legitimately have sentimentality for these necklaces, as they remind me of her special day?)
It’s not like I’m seriously stealing them, It’s just such a shame to hide such lovely pieces that carry blessings from above and so much love from our family… I’m thinking practically here. But, you tell me: What to do?
I’ll listen… I promise.
