In years past, I was lucky to get live, up-close views of the incredible dresses on Hollywood’s biggest night. This year yielded no such fabulousness… unless you count my butt planted on my couch – eyes glued to the TV – with a bowl of macaroni-and-cheese as being ‘fabulous.’ (Although, I did have FUN with no stress!) And, I did look at the attendees in a whole new light: I was keeping a keen eye on all the Mommies in attendance. Regrettably, I now separate women into 2 different categories: Moms and Non-Moms. It’s easy for Non-Moms to look good. It’s not easy for Moms to look good (not because we’ve lost our attractiveness, but because our brains are in a zillion different places and it takes much more effort to keep it together mentally and physically).
So, to make up for not working the Oscars this year (and give myself something productive to do), here are my top 3 picks for the “Hottest Moms on the Red Carpet.” (To be considered for my humble list, the mamas must have given birth less than 2 years ago AND must either be a nominee or past Oscar winner. I know, I’m tough.)
Jennifer Hudson brought it. Here’s someone who’s had ups and downs: She won an Oscar and Grammy, and then dealt with family tragedy (the murder of family members). She continues to evolve (from the inside out) after having her baby boy David almost 2 years ago. Jennifer’s body is better than ever, and her tangerine gown made it very clear that she’s back in the game.
Perhaps the MOST incredible was Penelope Cruz just ONE month after giving birth to a baby boy. No need for my silly commentary on this one… She’s undoubtably sleep-deprived and still sore, but she sucked it in, sucked it up, smiled big and looked stunning and spicy. Now that’s a Fab Mom.
Nominee Amy Adams (baby girl 8 months ago) also rocked it beyond belief as a vision in blue with her post-baby bod. (Of course, they’re all most likely are sporting Spanx underneath these sheaths, but who cares?)
