Ok, so I’m exaggerating. I don’t think I’m a bad mom…. yet. 🙂
Yesterday was LadyP’s 1-week birthday! Yay! We are having a blast together, but I will admit to already racking up a few skeletons in my closet with her. Some might consider my behavior questionable parenting, but I like to think that it’s typical first-time mom stuff. Some of my friends have probably done better, and some have probably done worse. Thought you’d get a kick out of my bad-mom activity for now:
SHE WIGGLED HER HEAD OFF HER SLEEP WEDGE BECAUSE I WAS LATE GETTING TO HER. It was the middle of the night (our first night home!) and I woke up to her crying. It took me a few minutes to get up in my stupor, only to find her arms and legs wildly flailing in her bassinet, with her head fallen off the tallest part of the wedge. She was screaming. I was horrified. And shameful. Never again.
I LET HER SCREAM IN HER INFANT CHAIR FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES WHEN IT WAS TIME FOR HER TO EAT. Frankly, there was no other choice at the time. If I didn’t eat something right then and there, I would’ve died and not been able to feed her. Good thing I eat fast.
I DIDN’T CHANGE A WET DIAPER… because I had just changed it 5-seconds before and she was hungry! And, it wasn’t that wet. I fed her and then we changed it.
Feel free to share your stories to make me feel better. In my defense, I made it up to LadyP with a 1-week birthday party last night… pretty cute for not having access to a cake, right?
