FAB FIND ALERT: Would leggings be around if there were no mothers? I dunno. What I do know is that, for better or worse, I’m pulling on leggings more and more. They just WORK. For playing on the ground with kids or for playing with adults in a pair of high-heels. I’m talking, like, every day. So of course I pulled on my most fab pair of ‘jeggings’ and hustled my bum over to the W Westwood this week, where Boston-based designer Daniela Corte‘s LA Red Carpet Leggings Launch Party happened. Leggings, red carpets and moms-with-cocktails-instead-of-babies was just what I needed. (Especially when one of the 13 women honored in the line’s current ad campaign is new-mom & stylist RealFabMom Anya Sarre.)
Here’s the skinny: Daniela Corte is a Boston-based designer and MOM who launched a fabulous line of leggings at her swanky Newbury Street storefront just a few months ago. Now, she’s bringing them to all of us.
But they’re not the casual leggings most of us pick up off our closet floor and throw on all the time… these are the Bentleys of leggings. I’m talking chic, QUALITY, sturdy little suckers that squeeze everything in and SUPPORT you. Fine-stretch knit designed to hold shape and color. Carefully-crafted contours that make your legs look better than you’d ever think leggings could make them look. Some designs even have vegan-leather inserts if you’re into that kind of thing (which I personally am). I’m not gonna lie: they’ve also got a pricetag reflective of all these bells and whistles: $225-235 (depending on which design you go for). But I know women that spend much more money on things they wear less… it’s all about balancing our choices, right?
And of course any designer that opts to use 13 accomplished, REAL women of all shapes and sizes for her most precious launch of a new product and ad campaign (instead of using identical cookie-cutter models) wins major points with me. Daniela Corte leggings are one for all, all for one and all you. Now how fab is that?
