Consider yourself warned, Rosie Pope. You may have a sunny smile and sincerely sweet personality, but I’m wise to your type. Last time I attended a fabulous event that showcased enviable maternity clothes and preggy-mama needs…. THIS HAPPENED. (Y’all remember that?)
So when I got an invite to attend the fabulous LA store opening for Rosie Pope Maternity last week, I did hesitate a *little* bit. But how could I resist? I couldn’t. Hello, have you seen her style? (Not to mention her TV show Pregnant In Heels.) I didn’t only get my tushy there 3 weeks after having LilMiss… I almost felt bummed that I wasn’t pregnant anymore!
Designed in a clean palate of whites and decked with chandeliers, the store itself – located on Santa Monica’s famous Montana row – is stunning. And the clothes…. the clothes! Some of the best I’ve seen in maternity-wear. (Hell, in any wear. Not kidding.) FAB-U-LOUS. Beautiful! Most of the designs also looked like they could be worn after-baby too (especially the A-line dresses). Dare I say, they are hot. My first steps in beyond the pink carpet and I thought “Damn. How’d my pregnant belly miss this?” The place was buzzing with mocktails, cocktails and crawling with celebrity mommies-to-be… all dressed up in Rosie.
Brooke Burke, Alyson Hannigan, Molly Sims and Sarah Drew shopped and talked about trends in pregnancy, babies and style. Fitness guru and celebrity trainer Andrea Orbeck was supporting new moms (like me) and moms-to-be and discussing trends in fitness and nutrition… not to mention, showing off her amazing legs and inspiring me to get back to the gym as soon as my doc gives me the go-ahead. All this glitz and glam aside, the added highlight was hobnobbing with some of LA’s most famed mommy-bloggers (aka: the smart women who keep me and other mommies informed and motivated these days): Laura of Momangeles, Natalie of HollywoodHotMoms and Sarah of MomsLA. My first night out (AND first glass of champagne!) after-baby was more than I could’ve ever asked for.
So congratulations, Rosie, on a beautifully-successful store opening here on the west coast, gorgeous designs and inspiring company (and of course your OWN growing bump!). Also… thank you for giving this new mom an event worthy of getting me dressed, coiffed and outta the house weeks after delivering a baby. And yeah… for also making me think about cooking another bun in the oven and possibly having 3 kids under 3. (Don’t worry Mom…. I’m KIDDING!) But *IF* it happens Rosie, I’M HOLDING YOU RESPONSIBLE. 🙂
Rosie Pope Maternity can be purchased via her site, or at her New York and Los Angeles retail stores.
And for anyone wondering how the heck I managed to feel good enough and look semi-presentable enough to leave the house 3 weeks after having a baby – while also having an 18-month at home – I’m gonna tell ya. CHECK BACK HERE ALL THIS WEEK for my little secrets…. in between diaper changes, of course.
