Pregnant or have an expecting friend? Forget about giving new moms swaddle blankets, baby swings or stuffed animals for her soon-to-precious bundle. Give her something she’s going to WANT. Give her something for her new mom body… to get her body back.
Here’s the thing: Whether or not she full-on admits it, there’s a part of every new mom that wants to get her body back after baby. It’s true. If you say it isn’t true, you’re either playing coy or flat-out lying to save face from being considered vain. You don’t have to put up a front with me ladies, I’ve been there and I feel ya: It’s not vain. It’s real human nature. I wrote about getting the bod back after having a baby a few years ago… and I still stand by what I said. (No lies here.)
Thought to share a few of my most fave products to bounce your body back after having a baby. Any of these will do the trick:
1) Mama Strut by PELV-ICE™. One of the newest and quite possibly THE most innovative post-birth system on the planet. (Also invented by a mom of 3!) This little contraption literally covers all bases — your tummy, your back, your butt, your ‘under there.’ Looks scary, but I promise it’s not. It’s flippin’ genius.
Mama Strut is a uniquely engineered wearable soft brace that delivers heat/ice therapy to reduce birth pain, swelling and cramping from vaginal deliveries, c-sections and vaginal prolapse, while also supporting the back and abdomen with multi-directional adjustable compression. The all-in-one shorts and abdominal/lower back support design is adjustable, fits comfortably and discreetly under clothing, and is made with moisture-wicking, anti-microbial fabric for supreme comfort. The Mama Strut offers women increased relief and mobility after childbirth, as well as the ability to take care of yourself and your baby without the need for heavy pain medication. It all sounds very technical, but all you need to know is that it’s going to keep all body parts (associated with birth) contained, controlled and cooled off for optimal new mom comfort. Mama Strut boasts the new technology PELV-ICE™ that’s currently being studied at the University of Southern California (USC). Scientific stuff here, folks.
Now for those of you mamas who might be a bit wary about all the ice packs and straps, check out…
2) Belly Bandit. Belly Bandit anything… to be specific.
A longtime favorite line of mine, this brand’s got everything covered. Slim your legs sexy with Mother Tucker® Leggings. Smooth the postpartum ‘muffin top’ with Mother Tucker® Scoop Neck (ain’t no shame in smoothin’ the muffin top…). The Bamboo Belly Bandit’s the original postpartum wrap that you wear for 40 days straight to not only feel supported and solid, but to also encourage your organs to shrink back to their pre-pregnancy size and place (safe for C-section deliveries too… I used this kind). Belly Bandit’s also got this sassy new contraption called Don’t Sweat It that help a mother out with, well, just click the link and see for yourself.
And let’s not forget about the pretty…
3) Cake Maternity. Lingerie for the postpartum body since 2008. With over 35 styles, Cake is committed to the needs of pregnant and breastfeeding women around the world by creating fashion forward maternity and nursing bras with a strong commitment to quality, luxury and fit. For moms who nurse (well, I didn’t, but that’s neither here nor there) Cake Maternity will get you feeling fun again in the most functional, breastfeeding-accessible way. There’s lace. There’s color. There are design names like Orange Zest, Cotton Candy and Licorice Twist… leaving very little chance to feel frumpy even if your body is doing all kinds of offbeat postpartum things. The quality is fabulous (made in Australia) and the fit is comfortable (I’ve tried it). Cake Maternity also has a wide selection of loungewear (because every new mom needs a bit of new loungewear for those first few weeks, at least I did). Just be careful: You might accidentally make another baby sooner than you thought if your husband sees you strutting around the house in this… get my drift?
So don’t feel embarrassed, don’t feel vain, don’t feel frivolous for wanting to bounce your body back after baby. Because, if you feel good first (and these finds will make you feel good first!) you’re halfway there: A total body bounce back starts with the mind and spirit…
DISCLOSURE: TheFabMom was not compensated in any way for this post. These are just some of my fave finds for new moms… so I’m sharing. Because sharing is caring. Help a mother out.
